This original photo to the right denotes one of the rebuilt buildings in the 9/11 Memorial in lower Manhattan opened on the 11th of September 2011, the ten year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I believe this to be beautiful because of the feeling and associated emotions that underlies this architecture. Following the losses of the 9/11 attacks, this emphasises the losses but also highlights regeneration and growth, remembering the loss however giving it renewal and an almost rebirth of sorts in it's design and positioning of the new World Trade Centre buildings. The architects Michael Arad and Pete Walker was a proposal chosen out of 5,201 entrants from 63 countries.
